Flitesoft FAQ

Commonly Asked Questions for Flitesoft Pilots

Voyager has a lot of similaries to RMS Flitesoft.  AOPA FlyQ EFB for the iPad was designed by Seattle Avionics based on our experience with Voyager so Voyager and AOPA FlyQ EFB are also similar.

What Do I Get?

RMS Flitesoft, Seattle Avionics, and AOPA have worked together to give Flitesoft users a free subscription to either Voyager for Windows or AOPA FlyQ EFB for the iPad for the remaining term of their Flitesoft subscriptions. Seattle Avionics developed both Voyager and AOPA FlyQ EFB.

Voyager for Windows

The Voyager Flight Software System is a complete software system that makes flying safer and more enjoyable. Preflight, it will check the weather (a complete and legal briefing) and plan a wind-optimized, fuel-price optimized flight. In flight, it puts a tremendous amount of information at your fingertips in a way that's quick and easy to understand. Flight plans, aircraft profiles, and pilot profiles are easily shared with FlyQ EFB for the iPad.

AOPA FlyQ EFB for the iPad

Put simply, AOPA FlyQ EFB makes your flying easier and safer by thoughtfully integrating powerful features such as split screen, terrain and obstacle avoidance, 3D synthetic vision, ADS-B from several manufacturers, and automatic wind-optimized flight planning into an elegant and easy to use app. Flight plans, aircraft profiles, and pilot profiles are easily shared with Voyager for Windows as well as FlyQ Web and FlyQ Pocket (smartphone).

How do I download the app?

I'm having problems downloading Voyager

All data for Voyager is downloaded from a global network of servers that is very fast and reliable (the same system used by Netflix). However, the app itself was only hosted on our normal Website. Due to unprecidented demand from Flitesoft users, we've added a new, globally distributed download for the app to solve application download problems. Click here to directly download Voyager.

How much will it cost after my free subscription period?

An IFR + VFR subscription to Voyager is $199/year. A VFR-only subscription is $99/year.

An IFR + VFR subscription to FlyQ EFB is $119/year. A VFR-only subscription is $69/year.

Do you have an Andoid version?

Voyager is strictly for Windows. FlyQ EFB requires an iPad but FlyQ Pocket runs on both the iPhone and Android phones. FlyQ Pocket includes similar airport information, weather, and flight planning features as FlyQ EFB but has no maps or approach procedures.

What's the difference between Voyager and FlyQ EFB other than the operating systems?

Voyager has exceptionally powerful preflight planning features including automatic fuel-stop planning, profile view, and much more. It also has a powerful 2D and 3D inflight mode with large, easy-to-use buttons. FlyQ EFB is designed primarily for inflight use and includes substantial ease-of-use and performance improvements over Voyager but does not have the same level of preflight planning features.  It includes both 2D and 3D features and support for more modern devices such as ADS-B receivers.

I tried Voyager previously and found something I didn't like about it.

Seattle Avionics has just released a new version of Voyager that addressed many issues including problems with DUAT briefings and Windows 8 compatibility. We suggest you take a look at the latest version.

Does Voyager work with Windows 8 and the Surface Pro? How about Windows 8 RT or the standard Surface tablet.

The new version of Voyager runs on the full version Windows 8/8.1. This allows it to run well on the Surface Pro. Voyager does not run on Windows RT so does not run on the Surface RT tablet.

Inflight weather: XM? ADS-B?

Voyager includes support for XM weather but not for ADS-B. FlyQ EFB includes support for multiple ADS-B receivers but no XM support. Read more about ADS-B from our ADS-B Primer.
